New Fuel Tanks Installed For Warminster Municipal Vehicles

WARMINSTER, PA —The township has spent $304,440 for new tanks to fuel their vehicles and those of nearby Ivyland Borough's government fleet.

The Warminster Township Board of Supervisors recently approved the purchase and installation of the new fuel tanks for township vehicles.

The tanks —which are already operational —will be used by the Police, Public Works, Parks & Recreation, and Emergency Services (Fire and Ambulance) departments to fuel their vehicles.

The Ivyland Borough Police and Fire Departments will also use the tanks.

The new tanks, Wayne iX Fleet Fueling Systems, pump both gasoline and diesel fuel and have internal digital fob readers.

Purchased from Petroleum Technologies for $304,440, the new tanks replaced fuel tanks that had exceeded their life expectancy and frequently stopped working or required repair.

In addition, the age of the old tanks made it difficult to procure the necessary parts to make repairs.

Supervisors authorized the purchase with funds allocated in the township's budget for capital expenditures and from the federal government’s American Recovery Plan Act.

The new tanks have a life expectancy of 20 years.

In addition to fueling township vehicles, the new tanks allow township employees to be prepared to serve the needs of the community without the interruptions or delays caused by inoperative or unreliable equipment.

They also do away with utilizing vital Township resources to repair antiquated equipment.

"The Warminster Township Board of Supervisors recognizes the value of capital improvements in maintaining the community's vitality,” Township Manager Tom Scott said. “The new pumps and tanks will play an important role in facilitating effective services to our citizens."
