Outdoor Yoga

Yogis who live in warm climates often practice yoga outdoors year round. Here in the Northeast, with our harsh winters, that's not possible. But, the winter is behind us and the weather is perfect right now for outdoor yoga in Pennsylvania. Practicing yoga outdoors is a great way to reconnect with nature. Many people spend most of their time indoors and tend to feel disconnected from the earth. We often think of ourselves as separate from nature but we are animals and belong to the earth just as much as squirrels, birds and other wildlife.

Practicing yoga outdoors can be a terrific experience! Natural scents like flowers, grass and pine needles fill the air and encourage us to breathe more deeply. Gentle breezes remind us to consciously breathe throughout our yoga practice. The warmth of the sun on your body can help you to move deeper into poses. The sounds of birds singing, wind and insects flying by all help us to be more awake and aware of our surroundings.

Outdoor yoga can be very spiritual by helping us to reconnect with the earth and all beings who inhabit the earth. We are reminded that we are each one thread in the fabric of the universe.
