Phillies Gear Headed To Spring Training

The team's equipment truck is expected to arrive in Clearwater, Fla., on Monday.

WARMINSTER, PA —Once the Super Bowl is over marking the end of another football season, most Philadelphia sports fans will turn their focus toward the Philadelphia Phillies.

The team held its Truck Day last Thursday as the Phillie Phanatic and front office workers loaded up equipment to send south for the spring training.

With the first official workout for the reigning 2022 NL champions just around the corner, thousands of items were loaded from the Phillies clubhouse at Citizens Bank Park into the team’s equipment truck and then shipped off on a 1,058-mile trek to BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Fla.

The loaded supplies included:

  • 10,000 POWERADE cups
  • 2,400 baseballs
  • 2,000 short-and-long sleeved shirts
  • 1,200 bats; 900 pairs of socks
  • 600 pairs of pants
  • 600 batting practice hats
  • 350 pairs of shorts
  • 300 batting gloves
  • 250 batting practice tops
  • 200 fleeces
  • 200 light jackets
  • 140 batting helmets
  • 125 leather and elastic belts
  • 75 pairs of assorted spike, plastic, and turf shoes
  • 40 heavy jackets
  • 20 coolers and a half pallet of POWERADE mix
  • Several bikes.

The equipment truck travels through eight states before being unloaded its arrival on Monday, Feb. 6, 10 days before the first official workout for Phillies pitchers and catchers on Thursday, Feb. 16. The full squad will be in Clearwater on Tuesday, Feb. 21.

This will be the team’s 77th Spring Training in Clearwater.
