WARMINSTER TOWNSHIP, PA — The township has declared a snow emergency ahead of a major winter storm expected to hit the region on Sunday into Monday.

The snow emergency is in effect from Noon on Sunday to Noon on Tuesday.

Warminster Police will be enforcing all snow ordinances during this time.

Warminster Police seek the community's help in removing all cars and vehicles from the roadway for the length of the emergency, so snowplowing operations are not delayed.

Per Ordinance No. 756: It shall be unlawful to park, or allow to be parked, any motor vehicle on any road or street within the township when an emergency has been declared by the Township Manager or his/her designee until rescinded.

No person removing snow or ice from public sidewalks or private property shall throw, shovel, push, plow or otherwise move snow or ice into the public street.

The storm system is expected to move northward from the Gulf Coast this weekend and will strengthen rapidly along the Atlantic Coast, according to AccuWeather, spreading accumulating snow from West Virginia through the mid-Atlantic and into southern New England from Saturday night through Monday.

Police said residents should call 911 for emergencies and 215-357-8900 for non-emergency situations.

According to the township's snow emergency declaration, Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Italia may declare a snow and/or ice emergency prohibiting any person to park a motor vehicle or to allow that vehicle to remain parked anywhere on any snow emergency route in the township.
