St. Patrick's Day Weekend Sobriety Checkpoint Includes Lower Bucks Co. Police

Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan said a checkpoint will be set up on Route 611 this weekend to deter people from driving drunk.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Police departments in Lower Bucks County will be involved in a coordinated, multi-jurisdictional sobriety checkpoint for the St. Patrick's Day holiday this weekend.

Beginning at 10 p.m. on Saturday and continuing until 3 a.m. on Sunday, law enforcement officers will be stationed on Route 611 (Easton Road) in Warrington Township, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office said.

The operation is designed to deter impaired driving and ensure the safety of all motorists during one of the year’s most traveled holiday weekends, authorities said.

“We want everyone to enjoy the St. Patrick’s Day festivities, but the message from my office and our law enforcement partners is clear: do not drink and drive,” Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan said. “This is not a weekend to push your luck. If you plan on celebrating with alcohol or drugs, plan for a sober ride home before you head out.”

The checkpoint features 30 police officers from at least five police departments, including Bensalem and Middletown townships in Lower Bucks County.

The Task Force reminds the public that Pennsylvania has a zero-tolerance policy for impaired driving.

To avoid a DUI arrest or a tragic accident, the District Attorney’s Office recommends the following:

Plan Ahead: Designate a sober driver or pre-schedule a rideshare service before the first drink is poured.

Be a Responsible Host: If you are hosting a party, ensure your guests have a safe way home and offer non-alcoholic alternatives.

Anyone who observes a vehicle operating erratically or suspects a driver is impaired should pull over safely and dial 911.
