Student Threats Made Against William Tennent High School

WARMINSTER, PA —The Centennial School District Administration said Friday that it was made aware of a potential school safety threat by students at William Tennent High School.

In a letter to parents and guardians, the administration said that "language of the threat" was consistent with reports of similar threats received at high schools both locally and nationally via social media.

The nature of the threats was not revealed in the letter.

"We are grateful to the students that reported this information to school administrators today," school officials said.

The administration —stating that it takes all threats against its schools seriously —contacted the Warminster Police Department for an investigation, direction, and support.

School officials said an additional police presence would be at the high school for the remainder of the day and during school dismissal.

School officials said the situation is an example of why it is essential to avoid making comments or threats against school safety.

"Even if they are not credible threats, they can cause significant stress and anxiety for our students, families, and staff," the administration stated in the letter.

School officials are asking parents to speak to their children about comments they see or hear and to monitor their social media activity.
