Suspect Who Assaulted, Seriously Injured Elderly Man Captured After Chase Through Bucks County: Cops

A 24-year-old man who police say assaulted and seriously injured an elderly man and then fled from police has been captured in Warrington.

SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, PA — A 24-year-old Solebury Township man who police say assaulted and seriously injured an elderly man and then fled from police Friday has been captured thanks to the help of surrounding police departments and an alert resident, police said.

According to police, Christopher Scott Evans has been charged with aggravated assault and related charges in connection with the assault of a 89-year-old man on Lower Mountain Road. Evans left the scene in a gold Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck before police arrived, prompting officers to advise Bucks County Police Radio and surrounding police departments to be on the lookout for him.

A Buckingham Township Police officer who was on patrol in the area of Upper Mountain Rd and Route 413 saw the truck and tried to stop it, but Evans sped away, according to information from Solebury Police. "Due to the extremely reckless manner the pick-up truck was being driven officers terminated the pursuit for safety of all," Solebury Township Police said.

About 30 minutes later, someone called 911 to report a reckless driver in the area of Route 611 and Street Road in Warrington Township. Warrington Township Police were able to locate the vehicle and Evans was detained.

The victim was seriously injured and was treated and transported by Central Bucks EMS and Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance to St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne.

Evans has been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangering another person, simple assault, fleeing and eluding police, disorderly conduct, harassment, reckless driving as well as numerous other traffic violations.

He was arraigned and sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility after he was unable to make bail, which was set at 10 percent of $500,000.
