Tax Collector Announces Retirement In Warminster

WARMINSTER, PA —Bobbie Loftus —who has collected taxes from township residents for nearly a quarter of a century —has announced her retirement.

At the Warminster Township Board of Supervisors recent meeting, Loftus said she's going to call it a career on Jan. 6, giving a six-month notice to ensure a smooth transition.

Loftus explained to supervisors at their June 20 meeting the extensive process of appointing and training a successor, which includes advertising, interviewing, appointing, taking courses, passing exams, and setting up new accounts.

She also expressed regret to supervisors for scheduling his vacation during the bill mailing period and apologized for any inconvenience caused to residents.

Loftus has had a track record of bringing in collections to fill the township's coffers.

In 2022, Loftus mailed out 10,400 bills to collect taxes of $8.2 million as of March 1. By November, she had hit a 94 percent collection rate and had 123 residents and $86,000 left.

This year is no different.

Loftus said there are only 490 people left to pay taxes this year. She said 28 of those were being handled by the Police and Fire Credit Union.

Supervisors Kenneth Hayes and Janice Charlton congratulated Loftus on her years of service.
"Everyone appreciates your dedication," Hayes said.

Charlton called Loftus a "wonderful person" who will be very hard to replace.

Solicitor Scott Holbert and members of the public also wished Loftus well in her retirement.
