Vehicle Theft Warning Issued In Lower Bucks As Crimes Rise

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —With vehicle thefts and crimes rising in the Philadelphia region, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office is alerting Lower Bucks County residents to be aware of the crimes.

The Bucks County District Attorney's Office provided residents with information about how vehicle thefts can happen to anyone and anywhere.

Authorities said that everyone is impacted by a stolen vehicle since it is often used for other, more violent crimes and can also increase insurance rates.

Vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles impact personal safety, the safety of the community, and people's wallets, authorities said.

Authorities also said that leaving mail, bills, car registrations, work files, or other sensitive information in a vehicle also makes people more vulnerable to identity theft and home burglary.

When vehicles are stolen, insurance rates also increase, authorities said.

Authorities have provided these tips if a vehicle is stolen:

• Contact police to confirm your car has not been towed or impounded.
• Gather your car's VIN (vehicle identification number), make, model, color, any distinguishing marks or features, any pictures you may have of your car.
• Gather your insurance information.
• Report your car stolen to police, your insurance company and your financing/leasing company.
