Want-It-Wednesday: Diane von Furstenberg Achelle Dress

I hear “summer”, I think “easy”. That goes for all aspects of life. Hair: throw it up in a bun. Dinner: toss something on the grill. Weekend: a few friends and easy cocktails. Wardrobe: lightweight, no fuss tunics and sundresses. That’s where this Diane von Furstenberg Achelle Dress from Encounter Boutique comes in. This retro inspired blue and white print with 3/4 sleeves and hidden snap front neckline does the work of a whole outfit in just one piece. Wear it with a blazer and pumps at the office and flat sandals for after-work and weekend fun.

It seems like everyone has been talking about weddings this summer. Even though I am not getting hitched anytime soon, I am super excited to be a guest at my friend Liz’s mother’s wedding this August, taking place in Martha’s Vineyard! And summer is the time for weddings, fashion blazers especially outdoor ones! Probably the number one question that all guests ask (at least for me it was) is “What do I wear?” Here are my top five picks for summer wedding dresses!

The Susana Monaco Shoulder Gathered dress from Helena’s Boutique works great with the Diane von Furstenberg Zia Platforms from Encounter Boutique. The shoes are a basic Charcoal color (DVF makes a different color of the shoe every season) that work well with the dress’s purple hue. In terms of accessorizing the outfit, minimize jewelry to earrings and bracelets, as this dress is a great piece to show off your neck. Adding a necklace makes the neckline too busy. In addition, an updo compliments the dress well (and elongates the neck further). A great wedding idea adding flowers to your hair. Look here for a tutorial on how to do so!

This Plenty by Tracy Reese Boatneck Shift from She Boutique features beautiful blue hues that parallel those of the ocean. The boatneck style works well for a summer wedding. This Qi Marion Cropped Cardi from Duchess Boutique compliments the dress well, as the cropped aspect of the cardigan doesn’t take away from the slight ruching of the dress’s midsection. Feel free to play around with accessories! Finding the right blue shoes would really make the blues in the dress POP!
