Warminster Introduces New K9 Officers — Bolt And Linc

The two canines currently are training in Philadelphia, where they are bonding with their handlers and learning police skills.

WARMINSTER, PA — The Warminster Township Police Department is welcoming two new, four-legged officers to the force.

Bolt and Linc are the newest members of Warminster's K9 unit.

Bolt is a 23-month-old, 83-pound German Shepherd, whose handler is Officer Chris O'Neill. Linc is a 1-year-old, 62-pound Malinois, handled by Officer Rick Kutzer.

Both dogs were purchased with money donated by ShopRite of Warminster, the Brad Fox Foundation and Gnostech Inc. Both of them currently are training with the Philadelphia Police K9 unit for the next 14 weeks.

There, they will bond with their handlers while learning obedience and skills like tracking and article searches. Once they graduate, both canines and their handler will be on patrol and available for other duties.

Warminster officials say the township is working to get back to four K9 units, which the department once had.

Earlier this month, township supervisors honored ShopRite owner Joe Cowhey for a donation to the cause. A total of $10,500 was raised by store employees and customers through contributions at the register, the sale of t-shirts and raffles held during September and October and a person donation from Cowhey.
