Warminster Police Share Tips For Busy Summer Season

WARMINSTER, PA — Summertime is a busy time for your local police. As such, police in Warminster are offering up some tips in dealing with what they call "nuisance crimes."

With officers busy on other calls, the response time for these minor crimes could increase over the summer months, police Chief James C. Donnelly said in a letter to residents. He cited fireworks as an example of a low-priority nuisance crime.

Still, he noted, these crimes can have an impact on residents' quality of life.

"As we strive to answer all calls for service with the highest quality of service and within the communities accepted time limits, we find our work force spread throughout the township, which delays our response and effects our community," Donnelly said.

To help police out during the busy summer months, the chief said, here are some tips for Warminster residents:

• Be aware of your surroundings always.
• Look out for you neighbors and be neighborly.
• Close your garage and lock your car doors.
• Call the police immediately upon seeing something strange or out of place.
• When calling 911, be precise and thorough with all descriptions and locations.
• Cooperate with the 911 operator and police upon their arrival.
• If possible from a safe distance, use your cell phone to safely video record any incident.
• Follow all traffic laws, drive defensively and carefully.

"By using these simple points, the public can help reduce calls for service, help the officers expedite their investigations and help officers solve the incidents in a timely fashion, which in turn will free the officers up to handle the more quality of life calls," Donnelly said.
