Warminster Vets Can Get 'Hometown Hero' Banner

The banners will be displayed on Veterans Way at Warminster Community Park.

WARMINSTER, PA— The Friends of Warminster Parks wants to honor local veterans as "hometown heroes."

This year, the group launched their Hometown Hero Banner Program. Through it, military veterans and active-duty personnel living in Warminster, or who have family there, can get a banner that includes their name, branch of service, era of service and a photograph.

The banners will be displayed on light poles along Veterans Way in Warminster Community Park for a three-year period. Banner locations will be selected randomly.

They'll be on display from May through Veterans Day in November, then removed and stored until the same time period the following year, the group says.

Organizers say there are a limited number of locations available for the 2019 program, but that the number will expand once the park roadway is extended in 2020. Any applications not processed for 2019 will be put on a waiting list.
