Warwick Fire Company Extinguishes Oven Fire, Then Does Something Awesome

An oven fire ruined the food for a Marine welcome party so Warwick Fire Co. crews prepared another meal, and delivered it to the family.

An oven fire in Bucks County could have had a terrible ending this weekend.

But instead, thanks to the Warwick Fire Company, it turned into a heartwarming display of the depths of human kindness.

Warwick’s Tower 66 responded to an oven fire Saturday on Fallow Hill Lane. Once the fire was out, the crew learned the homeowners were preparing for a welcome party for their son, a Marine who just returned from basic training, fire company officials said on Facebook.

The food was ruined by the over fire. But the Warwick Fire Company didn’t let that ruin the Marine’s homecoming party.

“Members went back to the firehouse and made a meal and delivered it to the family. Just one way for us to give back to those who protect our freedom!,” the fire company wrote on Facebook. That post, shared Saturday afternoon, received more than 88,300 likes and 23,900 shares as of Sunday morning.

The homeowner thanked the fire company from “the bottom of her heart.”

“I was devastated that this happened right before he came home. Words cannot express how grateful I am right now,” Kelly Korbobo Chalifoux said.

Hundreds of comments of support flooded in from across the country, with people commending the crew for putting out the fire and making the meal.

“As a military momma with three through basic and two now active, this made me tear up... Thank you being so thoughtful. God bless,” one Facebook user wrote.

“Thank you Warwick, toy went beyond the call of duty on this one! Putting out the fire was great, but preparing new food for the family was way beyond you’re call of duty. What you did wonderful for the family and the Marine. God bless all of you!,” another said.

But the fire company isn’t looking for attention.

“We are no heroes just trying to help a fellow member of the community. A small gesture goes a long way,” Warwick Fire Company said.
