BUCKS COUNTY, PA —It was a Christmas miracle for Daniel Daccardi. His dog Jack had run across a frozen pond and fell through the ice.

The Quakertown Fire Department went into action, putting its marine units in service just after 2 p.m. Sunday, and went to rescue Jack who was trapped in the icy waters of the Old Brickyard Pond on Heller Road in Richland Township, the Quakertown and West End Fire Company's Facebook posts read.

Crews were able to successfully reach Jack 100 feet from the shoreline and pull him back to the shoreline across the ice. The dog was transported to the Quakertown Veterinary Hospital for treatment and the fire department said Jack was recovering well.

"Come on, Jack," Daccardi said on the video posted by the Quakertown Fire Department on Facebook. "It looks like they're getting close. Poor Jack. This way boy. He's up. He's in the boat. Thank you, Lord."
