• Chester Co. Now Among Nation's Worst For Measles Cases (patch.com) — West Chester readers are at the center of a serious measles surge, as Chester County now ranks among the hardest-hit areas in the country with 83 confirmed cases and several hospitalizations. Health officials say nearly all statewide cases involve unvaccinated people and are urging residents to confirm their immunity, pointing to thousands of MMR shots already given at pop-up clinics.
• West Chester Joins Chester County's Growing List of Bird Towns (vista.today) — West Chester has been officially designated Pennsylvania's newest Bird Town, recognizing the borough's efforts to reduce pesticides, expand rain and pollinator gardens, and protect local wildlife habitats. Local volunteers and West Chester University partners helped secure the honor, which brings new conservation resources, training, and potential funding to the community. Borough leaders also plan more bird-friendly landscaping and building designs.
• WCU's Dance for HER Unites Chester County Through Dance and Service (mychesco.com) — West Chester University will host the fifth annual Dance for HER benefit concert on Sunday, Oct. 25 at Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall, raising funds for West Chester-based Unite for HER. Local studios and WCU dancers will perform original works while honoring loved ones affected by breast and ovarian cancer, and guests can add photos or mementos to a special tribute board throughout the evening.
