Authorities Warn Of Fake Check Scam In Chester County
Be on the lookout for these fake checks, which suspects use to steal identities.

WEST CHESTER, PA — Authorities are warning of a new fake check scam in Chester County in which suspects gather information from victims in order to steal their identities.
The Chester County Sheriff's Office said that checks are sent in the mail from a company called "Clear Evaluations." Clear Evaluations is the name of a legitimate business, but crooks are using the name of the business for their fraudulent operation.
When victims attempt to deposit the check, it bounces. The check also comes with instructions to serve as a "mystery shopper," and if the instructions are followed, personal information will be provided to the suspects which allows them to steal identities.
