Borough Council Rundown

Here's what happened at Tuesday's borough council meeting.

The held its monthly meeting Tuesday night.  Here’s a quick rundown of the action.

Mayor Carolyn Comitta along with Police Chief Scott Bohn honored Corporal Thomas Gotthold who is retiring after 22 years of service.

“We used to call him officer friendly,” Committa said.  “He knows how to set and enforce the rules to keep young people safe.  He leaves a legacy that’s both wide and deep.”

Borough Council also passed an ordinance that would require property owners to use brick when replacing sidewalks in historic district.

Council member Jordan Norley said he would like to see a similar ordinance passed for the entire borough.

“I’m disappointed this hasn’t moved out of the historic district,” Norley said.  “The brick sidewalks are a part of our heritage.”

Council agreed on Tuesday night to apply to the Chester County Community Revitalization Program for a $284,006 grant to rehabilitate the storm sewer located along East Miner Street.

“That’s one of the worst sewers in the borough,” said council member Chuck Christy.
