Brandywine Consignment Shop Reopening

DOWNINGTOWN, PA. JULY 29, 2013 – On Thursday, August 1st, The Brandywine Consignment Shop at 368 West Uwchlan Avenue in Downingtown will be re-opening after its July summer hiatus. The shop, which could not operate without the contributions of 60 volunteers and 800 annual consigners, was founded by a small group of women interested in helping build a healthy community. It is a nonprofit store that has been selling quality clothing and household items to the Chester County community since 1992.

“It’s grown into a cute little consignment boutique,” says Devon’s Joan Hedberg, one of the shop’s founders. She and several friends hired a manager and opened the shop for business on March 3, 1992. It eventually evolved from a thrift shop to one of the few area consignment shops that offers clothing for ladies, men and children, as well as antiques, collectibles, furniture and retro items. Whether you’re hunting for classic antiques, collectables, or the latest fashions you just might find it at The Brandywine Consignment shop.

Since 2001, the Brandywine Consignment Shop has raised over $800,000 for Brandywine Health Foundation supported programs, allowing the foundation to provide over $11 million in grants to services and programs to improve health and encourage youth development in the Greater Coatesville Area.
