Chester County Police Officer Passes Away Suddenly

The community mourned the death of Sgt. Christopher Sambuco, a husband and father of four, who served with distinction for 15 years.

CALN TOWNSHIP, PA — An officer with the Caln Township Police Department passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, police announced Friday.

Sgt. Christopher Sambuco, who served with distinction for 15 years, had been in good health. A cause of death has not been announced.

"It is with deep regret and unspeakable sadness that I announce the passing of one of our own," Caln Chief of Police Joseph G. Elias said. "Please keep his family and the Caln Township Police Department family in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of our brother."

Sabmbuco received a Letter of Commendation for his excellent work on the force in Feb. 2016. He was also honored by the Chester County Police Chiefs Association in 2008.

Members of the nearby community also expressed their sadness.

"We are devastated to hear the news of the passing of Sgt. Christopher Sambuco," Thorndale's Pronto Bistro announced on their Facebook page Friday. "Our hearts go out to the Caln Police Dept. and the Sambuco family."

Elias said that flags at the Caln municipal complex will be flown at half mast to honor Sambuco.

He is survived by his wife and four young children.
