Chester County Prosecutor Enlists In U.S. Army JAG Corps

An assistant district attorney in Chester County has enlisted in the United States Army's Judge Advocate General Corps.

WEST CHESTER, PA — An assistant district attorney in Chester County has enlisted in the United States Army's Judge Advocate General Corps, the Chester County District Attorney's Office said. Jonathan Harrar will leave soon to undergo a direct commission course at Ft. Benning in Goergia.

JAG handles prosecution and defense of criminal matters involving members of the Army, in addition to other Army-related legal issues.

Harrar will then go to Charlottesville, where the Army JAG school is located at the University of Virginia, to learn Army-specific areas of law.

"It has been a great honor to represent the citizens of the Commonwealth throughout my tenure (here)," Harrar said. "I hope I did it in a way that was firm when necessary but always fair. While I am reluctant to leave behind such amazing colleagues and law enforcement, I do so only because of a desire to serve my country in the United States Army."

In 2016, former Assistant Chester County District Attorney Tony Rock also enlisted with JAG.
