Cop Attacked in Chester County

Footage from a Chester County police officer's dash cam caught the incident on film.

COATESVILLE, PA — A man threw a large rock at a cop car's windshield and then injured another cop when officers attempted to take him into custody, the Coatesville Police Department said Monday evening.

The incident occurred at about 1:50 p.m. on Monday when a Coatesville cop, Officer Jared Davis, was on patrol, according to police.

Davis was traveling west on the 500 block of East Lincoln Highway near the Coatesville Public Library when a man threw a large rock at the marked police car, police said.

The incident was caught on the officer's dash cam:

Davis attempted to arrest the suspect, Eric Watson, 29, but Watson attacked him, trying to hit him in the head with the same rock, authorities said.

Additional police arrived on the scene and Watson was taken into custody.

Police said another Coatesville officer suffered a broken sternum during the incident.

Watson has been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, institutional vandalism, resisting arrest, and related crimes, police said.

Bail was set at $100,000 and he was booked in Chester County prison.
