Educator at Chesterbrook Academy Honored with Excellence Award

Chesterbrook Academy Elementary School in West Chester is honored to announce that fourth grade teacher Mandi Capotrio has received the Citadel Heart of Learning Award. The award, which is presented by Citadel Banking, is a teaching excellence award that recognizes Chester County teachers who show dedication to education both in and out of the classroom. Capotrio, who was nominated by students, parents and community members, is one of 15 winners out of more than 2,700 nominees.

“It is a privilege to have a teacher like Mandi at Chesterbrook Academy, and we are thrilled that she is being recognized for her work at such a high level,” said Joe Rodia, Principal at Chesterbrook Academy Elementary. “She truly goes above and beyond to provide the best education for her students, and we are so excited that she was presented with this prestigious award.”

The Citadel Heart of Learning Award program recognizes deserving teachers who go above and beyond the call of duty. Along with the award and cash prize of $500 to use towards her classroom, Capotrio will also be considered for a grand prize of an additional $1,500 for use in the classroom. The three grand prize winners will be announced on May 19 during a Facebook Live Event hosted by Citadel. Earlier this year before the closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a representative from Citadel visited Chesterbrook Academy to present Capotrio with the award in front of students and staff.
