Immaculata University music major selected as Presser Scholar

Emily Reid '26 is the recipient of the Presser Foundation's 2025-26 Undergraduate Scholar Award.

The Immaculata University Music Department announces that Emily Reid ’26 is the recipient of the Presser Foundation’s 2025-26 Undergraduate Scholar Award. The award encourages and supports the education of a music student who has achieved a high level of musical and academic excellence, demonstrated leadership and service, and contributed to an inclusive community. The award is in the amount of $3,000.

Reid, a music therapy major at Immaculata, distinguishes herself with her musical talent. She serves as president of the Mighty Muse and member of Immacapella, as well as participating in several ensembles during her time at Immaculata, including guitar, percussion, chamber choir and chorale.

Beyond her vocal and instrumental work, Reid previously served as the vice president of the Cue & Curtain theater group and is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Honor Society, which recognizes superior achievement in both music and academics.

“This award acknowledges the intersection of academic rigor and musical leadership that is exhibited among our music students at Immaculata, especially Emily Reid. It is an honor to recognize her for this award,” states Joseph Gehring, Ed.D., chair of Immaculata’s Music Department.

Originally from Toms River, New Jersey, Reid graduated as valedictorian from Ocean County Vocational Technical School Grunin Performing Arts Academy before studying music therapy at Immaculata University.
