Letter: West Chester Mayor Clarifies Role at Ryan Rally
West Chester Mayor Carolyn Comitta objects to her being cast as a protestor at last week's Paul Ryan rally.

I would like to clarify recent misinterpretations of my "personal perspective" with my "political representation" which encourages expression of all points of view.
As a mayor that was elected by both parties, it is my responsibility to promote open debate on all issues. Therefore I was surprised that last week's Obama press conference held prior to Paul Ryan's rally at the Helicopter Museum was reported by the Daily Local News as an anti-Ryan "protest" rather than an open discussion on issues.
As Mayor, I do not represent the personal opinions of the citizens of West Chester, and only speak on behalf of the citizens at official ceremonies and formal civic events.
Our Constitution allows each citizen, including elected officials, personal opinions. I look forward to continued open debate on all issues presented.
Carolyn Comitta
Mayor West Chester
