New Jamaican Restaurant To Open In West Chester
Miss Winnie's on E. Market Street will offer a wide variety of spicy and non-spicy Jamaican jerk cuisine.

WEST CHESTER, PA -- A new Jamaican restaurant will open its doors in West Chester on Nov. 8.
Miss Winnie's, located on 211 E. Market Street, offers Jamaican jerk food along with other Jamaican goodies like: Oxtail Stew, Curry Chicken, Beef Patties, Plantain tarts and more, according to company officials.
Prices range from $3 for a patty to $14.25 for the Curry Goat Platter special.

The restaurant, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, is owned by father and son Bert and Nick Johnson.
Bert lived in Jamaica until he was 15 and learned to cook from his mother, Miss Winnie, who they describe as a "motherly figure" in the Jamaican community.

"She always makes people feel welcome and part of the family, that’s the same atmosphere we want the restaurant to portray," Nick said.
Bert, a former engineer with HP, decided to follow his dream of opening the restaurant after his most recent work project concluded.
