PECO Invests $1.7 Million To Trim Trees In West Chester, Throughout Chester County
PECO will spend $1.7 million in a tree trimming project to improve electrical service in West Chester and throughout the county.

WEST CHESTER, PA -- PECO will spend more than $1.7 million to trim trees around electric lines throughout Chester County, including in West Chester, they announced Monday.
The project began in late March and will be completed by the end of May, according to PECO. The work will help improve service for 13,000 affected customers.
In addition to West Chester, crews will trim trees and remove vegetation along 173 miles of electrical lines in several nearby municipalities, including Caln, East Bradford, East Brandywine, East Caln, East Marlborough, New Garden, Newlin, Upper Uwchlan, Uwchlan, West Bradford, West Goshen, West Whiteland, Downingtown, and Kennett Square.

“Vegetation growth causes about one-third of all electric outages,” said Dave Weaver, vice president of Technical Services, in a statement. “Our comprehensive vegetation management program is vital to safely keeping the lights on for our customers.”
PECO said they spend about $41 million each year in vegetation management work throughout the region.
