Pet Rally to Highlight Animal Protection Efforts on Sunday

State Senator Andy Dinniman and Rich Alloway to Host an April 19 Rally in Support of Legislation to Protect Pet Animals

State Senators Andy Dinniman and Rich Alloway III will host a press conference and Be Kind to Pets rally on Sunday, April 19 beginning at 2 p.m. on the Pennsylvania Capitol steps to announce a package of seven bills and two resolutions designed to protect pets.

The rally is free and open to members of the public and their pets.

In addition, the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Majority Policy Committee will hold a joint hearing on legislation introduced by Sen. Alloway that would prevent animals from being tethered in unsafe conditions and set standards for animal shelters.

The hearing will be held on Friday, April 17 from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Charlie Sterner Building at the Gettysburg Recreation Center, 545 Long Lane. It will be followed by a news conference and “Yappy Hour: Be Kind to Pets” pet rally at the Gettysburg Recreation Center and Dog Park from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Members of the media are invited to attend the events.
