Suspect At Large As 'Heavily Fortified' Chesco Home Found Filled With Drugs

Heroin, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, five firearms, an extended barrel, a 30-round magazine and a filed-off serial number were found.

A "heavily fortified" Chester County home was found filled with weapons and drugs during a recent raid, and a suspect remains at large and wanted, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Ronald Smith, 41, of Coatesville, is wanted by police after police found five firearms, money, heroin, cocaine and crystal methamphetamine in his home on 438 Valley Road.

Among the firearms were a long rifle with a scope, a revolver with a filed-off serial number, a .357 revolver with an extended barrel, a Tec-9 semiautomatic firearm and a Colt .380-caliber semiautomatic firearm with high-capacity magazines, the DA said.

"The police found the unholy trinity of guns, drugs, and money in the defendant's house," DA Tom Hogan said on Friday. "This defendant was poisoning the Coatesville community and was a threat to law enforcement. The streets in Coatesville will be a little safer when we get him into custody."

Police executed a search warrant on Nov. 11 based on drug activity they said was stemming from the Valley Road home. The front door was reinforced with a steel security bar. There were surveillance cameras inside and outside the residence, and a monitor showed a live video feed from the cameras.

Smith has been charged with possession with intent to distribute drugs and various firearm offenses.

"The defendant was running a full-service pharmacy for illegal drugs," Hogan said. "He chose to protect his illicit activity in a fortified bunker."
