WCU's Wendle Named First Team All-American

West Chester University second baseman Joe Wendle is named a first-team all-american.

The following is a press release from the West Chester University Athletic Department.

West Chester University senior second baseman Joe Wendle was named Daktronics, Inc. first team All-America it was announced on Friday afternoon.

Members of the NCAA Division II College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) selected the All-America teams. The All-America team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. Daktronics has sponsored the baseball All-America program since 2007.

Wendle, who was also a first-team All-PSAC East pick as well as the player of the year in the Eastern Division, won the PSAC triple crown by leading the conference in batting average, home runs and RBI. He is hitting .400 on the season as the Golden Rams prepare for the Division II national finals. The local product has 74 hits and has scored 60 runs on the year to go along with 17 doubles, 8 triples and 12 home runs.
 
Wendle was also named to both the Daktronics, Inc., ABCA and NCBWA first team All-Atlantic Region squads recently.
