West Chester Borough Needs Volunteers

The borough needs volunteers to fill out its various boards and commissions.

Much of the important work of the Borough of West Chester is done by volunteers serving on the various appointed boards and commissions. These volunteer boards and commissions provide borough council with advice on various matters and help to deliver quality municipal services. The following is a list of the boards and commissions that will have vacancies in January 2012 along with a brief description of their function and the qualifications for serving.

BOARD FUNCTION QUALIFICATIONS Historic Atchitecture Review Board Advise council on rennovations to buildings inthe historic district Majority residents, four postitions require technical expertise. Planning Commission
Advise Council on planning and zoning matters Residents West Chester Library
Directs the operation of the West Chester Public Library Majority residents, qualifiedelectors Recreation Commission
Advise Council on issues of recreation and assists with operation of recreation programs Majority residents Shade Tree Commission
Advise Council and works in conjunction with the Urban Forester on tree related matters. Residents BID Authority Board
Provides services and promotes economic development for the central business district. Varied representation Human Relations Commission
Hear complaints and mediate disputes regarding discrimination in housing, employment or accommodation. Residents Civil Service Commission Administers 
police hiring/promotion Registered voters BLUER (Borough Leaders  Majority  United For Emissions  Reduction) Advise Council on issues related to emissions reduction residents
