West Chester Women Capture Sixth Straight PSAC Crown
The Golden Rams womens' swimming and diving team wins the league crown on Sunday.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women’s swim title belongs to West Chester University for the sixth straight season.
The Golden Rams collected 684 points to easily outdo their closest competition and claim the conference crown for the ninth time in the last 11 seasons and their 10th overall title. Clarion was runner-up with 441 points.
Sophomore Kacie McNichol won the 1650-yard freestyle with a PSAC Meet record 16 minutes, 55.24 seconds time that is an automatic qualifying time for the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships next month in Texas. West Chester swimmers captured the top four spots in the distance event with Alexis Walley (17:13.63) placing second, Codyanne Murtaugh (17:17.92) was third and Skylar Doss (17:25.80). Mackey McGeary was ninth.
Megan Winslow produced her third runner-up performance of the championships with a second-place effort in the 200 backstroke. She touched the wall in 2:03.89. She also placed second earlier in the weekend in the 100 back and the 200 individual medley. Jess Healy was seventh in 2:07.12.
Sophomore Amelia Buckley placed third in the 200 breaststroke. She touched out in 2:22.58. She was also third in the 100 breaststroke on Saturday night. Kendall Somer placed seventh for the Golden Rams (2:24.72). Dani Dougherty was 11th, Kristina Ciatto 13th and Kim Brownrigg 14th.
Lauren Keenan placed third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.39 while senior Leah Varvaro was eighth in 2:10.73. Mia Barone and Christie Stern each placed 13th and 14th, respectively.
The Golden Rams’ 400 free relay finished third in the final event of the 2012 PSAC Swimming Championships. The foursome of Winslow, Walley, Murtaugh and Barone posted a score of 3:30.89.
PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES: West Chester brought home 31 All-PSAC honors and another 21 honorable mention performances … Megan Winslow placed second in three events and was a member of two relay teams that placed first.
