Woman, 75, Dead And Two People Injured After Chester County Crash: Police

Route 82 was closed for almost five hours after a fatal crash in Chesco Monday, police said. State police will assist in the investigation.

COATESVILLE, PA — A woman is dead and two other people are injured after a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Route 82 in Chester County, officials said.

The driver of one of the cars, 75-year-old Theresa Marie Farrell, died at the scene according to a news release from Valley Township Police.

Farrell was from Valley Township, the department said.

The three cars collided at the intersection of Route 82 (First Avenue) and Manor Road in Coatesville around 3:14 p.m., police said.

A report in the Daily Local said a black Kia Forte was turning left to go northbound onto Route 82. Two vehicles traveling southbound hit the Kia, spinning it around and pushing it down the road, the report said.

One of the other cars hit the guardrail and ended up facing the wrong way in the northbound side of the road, the report from the Daily Local said.

EMS crews took two other people to Paoli Hospital and Trauma Center by ambulance, according to Valley Township Police. Officials did not provide their condition.

Route 82 was closed between Lincoln Highway and Route 340 for almost four hours, according to the Daily Local.

Crews from Sadsbury, West Caln, Coatesville, Westwood, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Chester County Coroner's Office assisted Valley Township Police on scene and throughout the incident, the department said.

Several witnesses stopped to give officers information; police ask anyone else who witnessed the crash or has more information to call Valley Township Police at 610-383-7000.

Valley Township Police and Pennsylvania State Police will investigate the accident.
