• Benton man among eight indicted in federal meth, fentanyl conspiracy (northcentralpa.com) — Several Wilkes-Barre residents are among eight people federally indicted in an alleged meth and fentanyl trafficking conspiracy that investigators say operated across northeastern Pennsylvania for more than a year. Local police, including Wilkes-Barre officers and the Luzerne County Drug Task Force, assisted ATF in the case, and the charges carry potentially lengthy prison terms if the defendants are convicted.

Officials are also advancing a rail line sale that could add excursion service from a Wilkes-Barre depot and are reviewing offers on a county-owned Union Street commercial building still listed for sale.
