$2,500 In Kohl's Thefts, Dog Care Fraud Top Lower Makefield Crimes

6/8/2023
FRAUD —1700 block of Langhorne-Yardley Road, reported at 12:19 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) intercepted a mailed check, altered it, and cashed it.

THEFT —2100 block of Cornerstone Drive, reported at 1:39 p.m. The complainant reported the theft of two bicycles.

THEFTS:
- 500 block of Andrea Place, reported at 9:28 a.m. The complainant reported the theft of a backpack.
- 700 block of Stony Hill Road, reported at 4:31 p.m. The complainant reported that stolen checks from New Jersey were cashed in the township.
FRAUD —100 block of Cinnabar Lane, reported at 6:33 p.m. The complainant reported receiving a bill for a phone bill that they did not open.

FRAUD —1400 block of Woodview Road, reported at 1:45 p.m. The complainant reported receiving correspondence with an unknown person via the Rover app who stated they needed care for a dog while relocating. The unknown person sent a check in the amount of $4,770. It was discovered that the check was fraudulent.
RETAIL THEFT —1600 block of Big Oak Road at Kohl’s, reported at 7:50 p.m. Police responded to the report of a retail theft in progress. Loss Prevention reported an unknown man and woman entered the store, concealed $1,425 worth of merchandise, and fled in a white Honda Civic. The investigation is ongoing.

THEFTS:
- 300 block of Oxford Valley Road, reported at 11:54 a.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) intercepted a mailed check, altered it, and cashed it.
- 1800 block of Waterford Road, reported at 10:46 a.m. The complainant reported receiving a notification that they had fraud on their account and was directed to send $40,000 in Bitcoin to an unknown person.
SOLICITORS —200 block of Arborlea Avenue, reported at 12:35 p.m. The complainant reported a solicitor for Approved Contractors soliciting without a permit. They were advised to cease soliciting until a permit was obtained.
RETAIL THEFT —1600 block of Big Oak Road at Kohl’s, reported at 8:49 p.m. Loss Prevention reported at three unknown women removed more than $1,000 worth of merchandise without paying. They fled in a silver vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.
DUI ARREST —Oxford Valley Road and Route 1, reported at 10:30 p.m. Police on patrol stopped a vehicle for violations. Further investigation led to the arrest of a 20-year-old Fallsington driver for driving under the influence.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF:
- 900 block of Pickering Drive, reported at 9:57 a.m. The complainant reported sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) egged the residence.
- 100 block of Pine Lane, reported at 11:40 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) disassembled a soccer net and put a traffic cone in their basketball net.

FRAUD:
- 1300 block of Chase Road, reported at 11:06 a.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) deposited a check in the amount of $2,600 into their money market account and withdrew it. The same day, an unknown person withdrew $3,900 from their checking account.
- 600 block of Leslie Lane, reported at 4 p.m. The complainant reported receiving payment for merchandise they were selling, shipping the items, then receiving notification that the credit card payment received was charged back.
IDENTITY THEFT —1400 block of Wheatsheaf Road, reported at 5:46 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) changed their address on their PennDOT credentials.
