2 New Council Members Join In Yardley Borough
Don Carlson and David Appelbaum will fill two seats. Councilman Chris Campellone resigned just before the appointments Tuesday.

YARDLEY, PA — The Borough Council filled two vacancies Tuesday night, appointing Don Carlson and David Appelbaum to join the seven-member board.
The two are replacing David Bria, who resigned two weeks ago, and Chris Campellone, who resigned Tuesday night before the appointments. Both left the council because they were moving out of town.
The board made the appointments after interviewing five candidates about their credentials and what background they would bring to the council and borough.

Carlson has served on the planning board while Applebaum is an active community member who ran unsuccessfully for mayor and council.
"I'm impressed by all who applied for council," said Councilman Matt Curtin, who made the motion for the appointments. "But Carlson and David stood out."

Carlson and Appelbaum were chosen over Dawn Perlmutter and Earl Markey —both who previously ran for council —and former Councilwoman Susan Taylor.
Their terms will end on Jan. 2, 2024.
Campellone, who started his term eight months ago, apologized to the crowd in the meeting room at Borough Hall, saying he didn't mean to disappoint residents who elected him and his fellow council members.
"I was not planning on moving, but my circumstances changed," said Campellone, who is moving to Upper Makefield Township. "This was not an easy decision. I do not like to start something and not finish it."
Council President Caroline Thompson praised Campellone for his service.
"You were a wonderful addition to the team," Thompson said. "It's a tough job. You came with a lot of joy."
