2023 Crime Tallies Unveiled By Yardley Borough Police
Yardley Borough Police Chief Joseph Kelly III announced police statistics for December and for 2023.

YARDLEY BOROUGH, PA —One-third of the borough's parking tickets issued by the Yardley Borough Police Department for 2023 came in December, the police chief said.
Police Chief Joseph Kelly III said that for December, the police department handled 495 calls, issued 10 parking tickets, 40 traffic citations, investigated eight motor vehicle accidents, and made two arrests, including one for DUI.
Kelly also announced the year-end crime statistics for 2023.

He said the police department handled 7,323 calls, issued 35 parking tickets, 786 traffic citations, investigated 80 motor vehicle accidents, and made 49 arrests, including eight for DUI.
In a final note, the chief said that the Auxiliary Police Department collected 1,215 pairs of socks for the homeless during its charity campaign in December.

Meanwhile, the police department has received final approval for a police recruitment and retention grant awarded through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
The department thanked state Sen. Steve Santarsiero and state Rep. Perry Warren and their staff for their continued support in obtaining the grant awards.
In other borough business:
- The Borough Council reappointed its borough engineer, borough solicitor, and Right to Know solicitor at its Jan. 2 reorganization meeting.
- Borough Manager Paula Johnson said the North Pole Mailbox was a "huge hit" this year with 100 letters sent in. More than 50 were answered by Santa Claus, she said.
- The borough received a $1,000 donation from the Yardley Farmers Market that is being put toward the upkeep of Buttonwood Park.
- Borough officials visited three businesses during December.
