$23K Copper Wire Theft, Sliced Cheese Top Lower Makefield Twp. Crimes

Lower Makefield Township Police continued to report eggs tossed at homes and vehicles. But now a new food has entered the picture.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —It's one thing that police are seeking egg vandals for recent incidents in which residents reported eggs being thrown at their homes and vehicles. But this week, one resident reported a new food being tossed: sliced cheese.

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department Friday released its police blotter of criminal incidents for the past week.

FRAUD —500 block of Countess Drive, reported at 8:20 a.m. The complainant reported receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be from Customs and Border Patrol. They were advised to send $5,000 worth of gift cards to avoid prosecution. The victim sent $3,350 worth of Target gift cards before realizing this was a scam.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —Unit block of Glen Drive, reported at 6:39 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) egged the residence.

FRAUD:

  • Unit block of Black Rock Road, reported at 11:42 a.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) intercepted a mailed check, altered it, and cashed it.
  • 200 block of Arborlea Avenue, reported at 4:05 p.m. The complainant reported airline tickets were billed to them.

THEFTS:

  • 200 block of Oxford Valley Road at Heartis, reported at 7:46 p.m. The complainant reported the theft of $400 from a purse.
  • 200 block of Oxford Valley Road at Heartis, reported at 7:46 p.m. The complainant reported the theft of $200 from a nightstand.

SOLICITORS —1500 block of Brock Creek Drive, reported at 5:46 p.m. The complainant reported solicitors for Verizon soliciting without permits. They were advised to cease soliciting until permits were obtained.

FRAUD —Unit block of E. School Lane, reported at 10:54 a.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) cashed their mortgage check.

Aug. 28

FRAUD —1300 block of Beechdrop Court, reported at 9:12 a.m. The complainant reported an
unknown person(s) used their Verizon account to order an iPad, keyboard, and added a
phone line.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF:
  • 1400 block of Woodview Road, reported at 11:32 a.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) egged the residence.
  • 900 block of Morgan Drive, reported at 2:16 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) egged the residence and vehicle and threw sliced cheese on it.
  • 300 block of Dunhill Way, reported at 10:06 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) smashed their vehicle’s window.

BURGLARY —500 block of Mill Road, reported at 6 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) removed $23,000 worth of copper wire from the construction site.

Aug. 27

THEFT —Unit block of Scammell Drive, reported at 3:42 p.m. The complainant reported the theft
of $950 from their EBT card.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —500 block of Amberwood Drive, reported at 10:08 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) egged their residence.

Aug. 26

RETAIL THEFT —1600 block of Big Oak Road, reported at 4:15 p.m. The assistant manager reported an unknown man and woman removed $400 worth of merchandise without paying.

DUI ARREST —Heacock Road and Covington Road, reported at 9:02 p.m. Police on patrol stopped a vehicle for violations. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 56-year-old township man for driving under the influence.
