2nd Bucks Co. Wegmans Phase III Roadwork Begins
Lower Makefield Township officials said the Prickett Preserve at Edgewood may cause motorists some delays around Stony Hill Road.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —The third phase of road improvements has begun around Bucks County's second Wegmans, which is scheduled to open sometime early next year.
Lower Makefield Township officials have announced that the construction work has started on Phase 3 of the Prickett Preserve at Edgewood roadway improvements on Stony Hill Road.
Officials said the third phase will construct the pedestrian trail connection on the Interstate 295 overpass into Edgewood Village and other related roadway improvements.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur.
Township officials said that the road improvements to handle additional traffic are projected to cost more than $5 million.

The second Wegmans grocery store in Bucks County is expected to open sometime early next year. A specific opening date has yet to be determined.
There are three phases of road improvements:
Phase 1 includes Stony Hill Road frontage improvements. Township officials said the Phase 1 work is "substantially completed" and includes traffic signal and turning lane installation on Stony Hill Road at the Prickett Preserve/Shady Brook Farm intersection plus road resurfacing along the project frontage.
Phase 2 calls for Route 332 Bypass improvements, a $5,578,630 cost that is partially funded with a $3 million Multimodal Transportation Fund Investments grant to improve safety and mobility in Bucks County.
Phase 2 should be completed by the end of the year. Motorists should stay alert for work being performed between the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, township officials said.
The pedestrian improvements include:
- Roadway widening to realign Stony Hill Road over the Interstate 295 overpass, add a stamped brick concrete median in Stony Hill Road
- Pedestrian path installation on Stony Hill Road to connect the Prickett Preserve project to Edgewood Village.
Wegmans recently announced that it would hire full-time 400 employees for its 94,024-square-foot store that's under construction.
Firebirds Wood Fired Grill will be opening its first Bucks County location there as well.
