$3,500 Bitcoin Scam, Stolen W2 Forms Top Lower Makefield Crimes
The Lower Makefield Township Police Department Friday released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week.
LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —A Bitcoin scam, identity theft, and a few frauds were among the criminal complaints the Lower Makefield Township Police Department reported Friday in its blotter.

FRAUD —1600 block of Covington Road, reported at 2:30 p.m. The complainant reported believing that their computer was hacked and called a phone number provided by the hacker. They then deposited $3,500 in Bitcoin before realizing it was a scam.

FRAUD:
- 1400 block of Clinton Drive, reported at 10:55 a.m. The complainant reported providing personal information to someone claiming to be from a local hospital before realizing it was a scam.
- 900 block of Weber Drive, reported at 2:46 p.m. The complainant reported someone attempted to cash a fraudulent check against their checking account.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE —600 block of Township Line Road, reported at 5:07 p.m. The complainant reported that someone unlocked the vehicle and removed their W2 forms and pay stubs.

IDENTITY THEFT —Unit block of Orchard Way, reported at 11:58 a.m. The complainant reported that a known person used their information to open a line of credit in their name. The investigation is ongoing.
FRAUD —1500 block of Edgewood Road, reported at 11:34 a.m. The complainant reported applying for a loan through who they believed to be a legitimate lender. After not hearing anything back, they discovered more than $3,000 missing from their bank account.

FRAUD —1000 block Floral Vale Boulevard, reported at 11:19 a.m. The complainant reported
business email was hacked and used to buy $9,199.90 worth of Apple products that were
sent to an address in Philadelphia.
ACCIDENT & DUI ARREST —2000 block Yardley-Morrisville Road, reported at 6:02 p.m. Police responded to the report of a one-vehicle accident into a telephone pole. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 35-year-old Lower Makefield Township man for Driving Under the Influence.
