4 DUI Arrests, Wegmans Theft Top Lower Makefield Crimes

The Lower Makefield Township Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents from last week.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —DUI arrests and a Wegmans theft were among some of this past week's criminal incidents reported in the Lower Makefield Township Police Department's blotter.

DUI ARREST —Big Oak Road and Knightsbridge Drive, reported at 1:05 a.m. Police on patrol came across a disabled vehicle at the location. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 28-year-old male driver from Lower Makefield Township for Driving Under the Influence.

ACCIDENT & DUI ARREST —1600 block of Big Oak Road, at Kohl’s, reported at 9:01 a.m. Police responded to the report of a minor accident in the parking lot. Further investigation led to the 50-year-old male driver from Lower Makefield Township being charged for Driving Under the Influence.

SOLICITORS —26000 block of Cornerstone Drive, reported at 6:13 p.m. The complainant
reported a solicitor in the area soliciting without a permit. They were advised to cease soliciting until permits were obtained.

May 28

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —1600 block of Quarry Road, at Quarry Hill Elementary School, reported at 9:27 a.m. The principal reported vulgar graffiti on the playground equipment.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT —300 block of Oxford Valley Road, reported at 9:50 a.m. The complainant reported the theft of their 2004 Chevrolet Silverado sometime overnight.

RETAIL THEFT —1600 block of Big Oak Road, at Norman’s Hallmark, reported at 12:02 p.m. An employee reported two unknown women entered the store, and removed $849.00 worth of tote bags and fled the store. An investigation is ongoing.

THEFT —1100 block of Quarry Commons Drive, reported at 4:22 p.m. The complainant reported the theft of landscaping equipment.

May 27

WANTED PERSON & DUI ARREST —900 block of Roelofs Rd. reported at 2:44AM.
During patrol, an officer observed a suspicious vehicle running in the driveway of the
location. Due to the time of night, a check of the vehicle’s registration was done, and
records showed the owner to have a suspended license and a warrant out of Bucks
County. The driver identified himself as the wanted person and admitted to coming home
from New Jersey and had been drinking. The 60 year old male from LMT was taken into
police custody for Driving Under the Influence.

RETAIL THEFT —900 block of Vasant Drive, at Wegmans, reported at 6:45 p.m. Police responded to the report of a retail theft in progress. Loss Prevention advised police the actors had just fled in a white vehicle and fled the parking lot. Police were able to locate and stop the vehicle on Stony Hill Rd. Loss Prevention was able to identify a passenger as the offender. The 59-year-old male from Trenton, N.J., was taken into police custody for Retail Theft. He was arraigned by District Justice Douple and sent to BCCF in lieu of $10,000/10 percent bail.

FALSE ID TO LAW ENFORCEMENT —900 block of Vasant Drive, reported at 6:45 p.m. While investigating the retail theft from Wegmans, the driver of the getaway vehicle gave a fake name to officers. The 45 year old male from Trenton, N.J., was taken into police custody for False Identification to Law Enforcement.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT —500 block of West Trenton Avenue, reported at 12:57 p.m. Police responded to the report of a minor traffic accident in the parking lot. Upon arrival, the driver of the striking vehicle was arguing with the owner of the parked vehicle that was struck. An eyewitness was on scene and advised police of what they saw. The owner of the striking vehicle became irate and argumentative with police and refused to follow the officer’s instructions. A 48-year-old Lower Makefield Township man was cited for Disorderly Conduct.

May 24

FRAUD —200 block of Aspen Road, reported at 4:50 p.m. Someone reported booking a hotel reservation online and then canceling it. They were refunded, then the refund was reversed. The company claims the refund was given. Their credit card company is investigating.

DUI ARREST —Route 332 and Mirror Lake Road, reported at 8:06 p.m. Police responded to the
report of a disabled vehicle at the location. During the investigation, an eyewitness stated they observed the driver and passenger switch positions. This was confirmed by seatbelt injuries sustained by the passenger as well as traffic cameras at a separate location. A 29-year-old Philadelphia woman was taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence.

May 23

IDENTITY THEFT —1500 block of Yardley Road, reported at 2 p.m. The complainant reported LifeLock notified them of two fraudulent charges totaling $826.59 using their personal information.
