$9,400 Credit Card Fraud, Contractor Scam Top Lower Makefield Crimes

The Lower Makefield Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —A contractor scam and a $9,400 credit card fraud were some of the recent criminal incidents handled by the Lower Makefield Township Police Department in its blotter released for last week.

FRAUD —Unit block of Spring Lane, reported at 10:17 a.m. The complainant reported paying a contractor $9,500, but the work was never fulfilled. The investigation is ongoing.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD —500 block of South Dove Road, reported at 10:47 a.m. The complainant reported an unauthorized use of their credit card in the amount of $9,457.12.

THEFT —600 block Leslie Lane, reported at 2:44 p.m. The complainant reported the theft of
package containing a Samsung cell phone and air buds from the front porch.

Nov. 19

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF —1300 block of Moon Drive, reported at 7:30 a.m. The complainant reported sometime overnight, an unknown person(s) broke the window and entered the vehicle. Nothing is reported missing at this time.

RETAIL THEFT —700 block of Stony Hill Road at Giant, reported at 12:15 p.m. Loss Prevention reported that on 11/18, two individuals entered the store with previously stolen gift cards and put them back on the rack for purchase. Loss Prevention explained that when the next customer purchases one of those gift cards, the amount of money on the card will go to the individuals involved in the scam since they have the account and PIN numbers. The investigation is ongoing.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE:

  • 1300 block of Big Oak Road at Five Mile Woods, reported at 3:18 p.m. The complainant reported while parked in the parking lot, an unknown person(s) broke the vehicle’s window and removed several credit cards, gift cards, and $10 USC. The investigation is ongoing.
  • 1300 block of Big Oak Road, reported at 4:50 p.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and removed an EZ Pass and garage door opener. The investigation is ongoing.

Nov. 18

FRAUD —100 block of Pine Lane, reported at 3:02 p.m. The complainant reported making a $1,000 deposit to a window company, but the work was never fulfilled, and they will not give them a refund. The investigation is ongoing.

RETAIL THEFT —1600 block of Big Oak Road, at Kohl’s, reported at 7:01 p.m. The manager reported the theft of $200-$400 worth of merchandise by an unknown male. The investigation
is ongoing.

Nov. 17

FRAUDULENT DOCUMENTS —Route 332 and Interstate 95, reported at 8:13 a.m. While police
were patrolling the area, the LPR reader notified the officer that a vehicle had an expired
registration. A traffic stop was initiated, and it was discovered that the vehicle also had
fraudulent inspection stickers. The 29-year-old man from Philadelphia was to be summonsed for a fraudulent inspection sticker and related charges.

FRAUD —1400 block of Revere Road, reported at 10:16 a.m. The complainant reported an unknown person(s) logged onto their American Airlines account and used their miles.
