YARDLEY BOROUGH, PA — The borough will hold a flag raising ceremony on Friday to celebrate the Juneteenth federal holiday.
The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in front of Yardley Borough Hall at 56 South Main Street.
Attendees will get a free Juneteenth flag while supplies last.
The event's motto is "celebrate freedom, honor history, and build community."

The event is sponsored by the Gather Place Museum, which promotes Black history in Bucks County.
Juneteenth is a federal holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States.
It's the day in 1865 when
Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of The Civil War.
