Bicyclist Injured In Yardley Crash With Vehicle

Yardley Police said the crash happened Tuesday afternoon on West Afton Avenue.

YARDLEY, PA —An 82-year-old woman has been charged involving an accident on Tuesday with a bicycle that caused injury, police said.

That was one of the criminal incidents the Yardley Borough Police Department released in its police blotter for the past week.

THEFT —On Friday, Aug. 18, around 7:15 a.m., a borough police officer was alerted of an overnight theft on the 40th block of South Main Street where multiple men entered a retailer, filled bags with merchandise, and left the store without paying. An investigation led to the identification of three suspects. As a result, three men —two 20-year-old men and a 21-year-old man, all from Trenton N.J. —were charged with theft and related offenses. The matter is pending court.

ARREST —SPEEDING / UNAUTHORIZED USE OF MOTOR VEHICLE —On Tuesday, Aug. 22, around 10:25 p.m., a police officer conducting speed enforcement at North Main Street and Irving Street observed an Acura coupe traveling 46 mph in a 25-mph zone. The vehicle was stopped and the operator was unable to provide proper documentation. The vehicle owner was contacted and confirmed the operator did not have permission to operate her vehicle. As a result, the 29-year-old Morrisville man was charged with unauthorized use and speeding. The suspect was processed and released. The vehicle has been released to the owner. The matter is pending court.

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT INVOLVING A BICYCLE —On Tuesday, Aug. 22, around 3:05 p.m., Yardley and Lower Makefield Township police officers were dispatched to an accident on West Afton Avenue and Sandy Run Road involving a bicycle. The bicyclist, age 32, was transported to a hospital for a non-life-threatening injury. Based on the investigation, the driver of the vehicle, an 82-year-old woman from Washington Crossing, was charged with careless driving resulting in injury. The matter is pending court.
