Bridge Construction Will Last Until Late November In Lower Bucks

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —Drivers should expect delays due to bridge construction in nearby Upper Makefield Township starting on Monday and lasting through late November.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that construction will begin Monday on a project to replace the Lurgan Road bridge over the Branch of Pidcock Creek in Upper Makefield.

Local access will be maintained.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur.

Built in 1910, the existing 16-foot-long, 23-foot-wide single-span concrete encased steel I-beam bridge will be replaced with a single-span concrete box culvert.

The structure carries an average of 971 vehicles per day.

Lurgan Road Bridge is one of seven structures in Bucks and Montgomery counties that PennDOT is rehabilitating or replacing under this $7,987,000 project.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
