YARDLEY, PA —It won't be held on Friday the 13th. But the 13th annual Canal-O-Ween promises to be a spooky scene.

This year's event sponsored by Experience Yardley starts right after the Carve-O-Thon, which will be held at noon on Sunday, Oct. 29.

More than 500 pumpkins provided by the Yardley Borough Parks and Recreation —the event's headline sponsor —will be carved, said Experience Yardley President Elizabeth Young.

What follows Carve-O-Thon is when volunteers place the pumpkins along the canal, light them up, and the Jack-O-Lantern Stroll begins.

"Canal-O-Ween is our annual week-long Jack-O-Lantern lighting, which really sets the tone for Halloween in Yardley. Residents and visitors enjoy the beauty of the autumn season as they stroll along the Delaware Canal," Young said.

Located on North Edgewater Avenue along the historic Delaware Canal in the Rivermawr neighborhood, the stroll lets residents and visitors safely enjoy fall’s beauty within the natural, car-free setting of the canal.

The Canal-O-Ween Stroll will take place from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4.

Young said there are some new features this year with more than 26 sponsors, a hospitality table, improved signage, and new sound and a video.

"The key message is lots of sponsors, and refreshed hospitality, offering renewed energy and enthusiasm for this lovely family Yardley tradition," Young said.

There will also be a photographer for free pictures on the famous vintage red farm truck that is now outfitted with our Canal-O-Ween logo.

Several local businesses are providing Light the Night Sponsorships and Hospitality Table will be jam-packed with goodies, Young said.

Canal-O-Ween oOfficial T- shirts will also be available for sale and prominently featured at Commonplace Reader Bookstore. The cost is $20 for an official Canal-O-Ween T-shirt and $30 for two. Sizes are small to XXL. Supplies are limited.
