Canal 'O Ween In Yardley Starts Oct. 28
The borough's annual pumpkin carve-o-thon will be followed by a stroll along the Delaware Canal, showcasing hundreds of jack-o-lanterns.

YARDLEY, PA — With the fall officially arriving and the slightest of chills in the air, many people's thoughts have turned to Halloween. In Yardley, that means it will soon be time to start carving and decorating the Delaware Canal.
Canal-O-Ween, the annual tradition of carving jack-o-lanterns and placing them along the historic canal, gets under way on Oct. 28. In Yardley's Rivermawr neighborhood, dozens of people will meet that day from noon-3 p.m. to carve pumpkins into Halloween decorations.

- Carving will happen at Rivermawr Green, at the corner of Maple and Morgan avenues.
- Bring pumpkin carving tools if you have them.
- A tent, table and tarp will be provided for all your carving needs.
- Hot dogs and cider will be prepared and served.
- Canal-O-Ween t-shirts will be for sale.

If you'd rather just enjoy your neighbors' handiwork, the Jack-O-Lantern Stroll begins that same day and runs through Nov. 3.
Spanning about a quarter-mile along the Delaware Canal Towpath, the display of more than 300 pumpkins is designed to be enjoyed as you get out for a walk. It will begin at dusk, when the jack-0-lanterns will be lit to light up the autumn night.

- The stroll on the towpath runs north from the East Afton Avenue Bridge to the end of North Edgewater Avenue.
- Visitors are advised to lock their car doors and wear comfortable shoes.
- Parking is available at the PECO substation at Morgan and Fuld avenues. You must park parallel to the canal. Parking on Morgan Avenue between Maple Avenue and Brown Street will be limited to one side. There will be no parking allowed on Maple Avenue. Signs will be posted.
- The stroll can be enjoyed by foot, wheelchair or stroller.
- Drivers are urged to look out for pedestrians and pedestrians are encouraged to use sidewalks and crosswalks.
