Drone Sightings Should Be Reported By Yardley Residents: PD

Yardley Borough Police said residents should call the police department or FBI if they see drones in the night skies.

YARDLEY, PA —Residents who spot drones in the night skies should report them to the borough's police department or federal law enforcement, police said.

The Yardley Borough Police Department said that with drone sightings becoming quite common over the past few weeks, residents can help law enforcement by reporting any sightings and sharing images or videos that might be able to assist authorities.

Mysterious drones have been reported for the past month in North Jersey but have recently spread to sightings in South Jersey, Bucks County, and neighboring counties.

Drones were spotted throughout the greater Philadelphia area on Thursday night, perhaps the most widespread night yet of the unexplained sightings of aerial objects in the local area.

While flying drones in unrestricted airspace is legal, police would still like residents to provide information since the FBI is actively collecting information about the identity of the drones.

Residents who spot drones can:

  • Call the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation at 800-CALL-FBI (800-225-5324)
  • Upload photos or videos at tips.fbi.gov by selecting "Submit a Tip" under the "Other FBI Crimes" tab.
  • If drone/UAS operations pose a threat to public safety, call the Yardley Borough Police Department at 215-493-2782, 911 or local police if you live outside the borough.
