Fighting Crime In Blood For New Yardley Police Officer
Robert Gergal Jr. joins the Yardley Borough police department as a part-time police officer. His grandfather was a Bucks County detective.

YARDLEY, PA —The borough's police department has added to its ranks — and its newest member has a family history of fighting crime.
Robert Gergal Jr., 22, was sworn in by Mayor Chris Harding, as a part-time police officer as his family gathered in the meeting room during Borough Council's recent meeting.
"This feels good. It runs in my family," Gergal told Patch.com following the ceremony. He said his grandfather had served as a Bucks County detective.

Gergal is a graduate of Neshaminy High School. He also attended Bucks County Community College and the Temple University Police Academy, where he was a class lieutenant.
Police Chief Joseph Kelly said Gergal was a candidate with the knowledge and skills needed as a police officer.

"I'm very impressed with his qualifications," Councilman Chris Campellone said. "He's a great addition to Yardley borough."
Harding told the audience how "seriously we take our commitment" to the service and safety of residents.
"It's great to have your family history of policing," the mayor said.
