Gather Place Gets $1,000 Check From Yardley's Harvest Day
Proceeds from Yardley's annual event was recently given to the South Canal Street museum.

YARDLEY, PA —Shirley Corsey, conservator of the Gather Place museum, is trying to keep Black History alive in the borough and Lower Bucks County.
So it's a nice surprise to get a helping hand.
That helping hand came in the form of a $1,000 check she was presented recently from proceeds from the borough's annual Harvest Day event held in September.

"Gather Place Museum extends our heartfelt gratitude to the Yardley Harvest Day Committee for their generosity in sharing a portion of the event proceeds with us," Corsey said. "Harvest Day is more than just a beloved tradition in Yardley Borough—it’s a vibrant celebration of community, history, and connection."
This year’s donations to the recipients' event, held recently at the historic Yardley Gristmill, provided a warm and welcoming space for local organizations like Gather Place to network, share our stories, and showcase the ways we serve our wonderful, supportive community, Corsey said.

"We are truly grateful for your support, which helps us honor the past and inspire the future," Corsey said. "Together, we’re making sure Yardley’s rich heritage continues to thrive for generations to come. Thank you for being part of this journey with us."
Located at the Historic African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church (est. 1877) in the Historic District of Yardley Borough, Gather Place Museum is a nationally recognized hub for American History in Bucks County.
The organization and building is African-American-owned and operated, and open since September 2022.
Under Corsey's leadership as a conservator, Gather Place is committed to preserving history, celebrating culture, and fostering community engagement.
Corsey said there is still plenty of work to be done.
"There is still much more work ahead to maintain this treasure, from additional historic restoration efforts (new ADA bathroom and kitchenette construction) to educational program expansion that brings Yardley’s history to life," she said.
The museum on South Canal Street in Yardley is open on Fridays and Saturdays from Noon to 3 p.m.
